A Peculiar Week in My Dream Journal, May 1973
O sun, to tell thee how I hate thy beams That bring to my remembrance from what state I fell... An ode to the Beast; who was felt strongly during the 1970s, when Americans had idle time for metaphysical inquiry, as benefit from the racism of their forefathers, in turn setting in motion an attempt towards a mass liberation of consciousness, which, succumbing to arrogance, unsuccessfully bid to help remove the psychological chains imposed upon others, chains which were the genesis of the aforementioned teenage thought liberation. A feedback loop of failed promises inherited by lies.
Chatbot Dialogs
Chatbot Dialogs is a video-based on real conversations with existing chatbots. Chatbots are synthetic intelligent agents that define today many of the mundane and trivial interactions of human life. They more and more closely resemble humans in appearance, behavior, and spontaneous reactions. In our artistic exploration of the subject, we did exactly the opposite: our human performers studied and internalized the ways the existing chatbots speak and behave in an attempt to create an authentically chatbot-like experience. They perform dialogs based on real conversations with existing chatbots. While having a broad pallet of human acting tools at their disposal, the actors imitate the chatbot’s still limited arsenal of vocal and facial expressions, but their humanity seeps through in involuntary twitches and very human facial mannerisms. The human actors cannot turn their humanity completely off. On the contrary, the chatbots they studied and those currently in development are, yet to turn theirs on. But, we ask: what are the nuances that differentiate and reveal the true nature behind these two representations of humanity?
