Fabled National Geographic photographer Steve McCurry has a lifelong love of wandering, and many of the world-altering events that he has documented seemed to take place right where he happened to be at the time. Alongside his professional accomplishments, which include one of the most famous photographs in the world, “Afghan Girl,” the film explores the personal challenges McCurry faced in his life: a difficult childhood, a physical disability and a deep sense of isolation. These obstacles informed his defiant and adventurous character and the striking nature of his work. He has won 13 major photography awards, hosted 10 major museum exhibitions of his work and sold millions of his photo books. We also meet the photographer´s family, friends and long-time colleagues, who offer their own insight into why McCurry’s images continue to resonate so strongly with audiences worldwide.
