From Executive Producers Jon Favreau (Lion King) and Mike Gunton (BBC’s Planet Earth II) comes a second season of the ground-breaking wildlife documentary series which shows nature putting on the greatest show on Earth during the reign of the dinosaurs. From the peculiar dinosaurs confined to the planet’s islands, to huge herds gathering in volcanic Badlands, this second visit to the Prehistoric Planet dives deeper into the lives of flying giants, aquatic behemoths and a cast of well-known and new-to-science dinosaurs and the other long extinct animals that roamed every corner of the globe. Thanks to the very latest scientific discoveries we now know so much about the world that was ruled by the dinosaurs. This is their story.

Islands create unusual environments for any animal; surrounded by water and with little opportunity for new arrivals or existing residents to relocate, evolution takes unusual turns. Animals shrink in stature, duck billed hadrosaurs which usually rival T.rex for size have evolved to the size of a pony; mammals have filled some biological niches and live side by side with giant snakes and the major predators arrive not by foot, but from the air.
