Haunted by recurring dreams, Vera (Hera Hilmar) journeys from Iceland to a remote Newfoundland fishing village in search of her missing father. Drawn by Jack (James Frecheville), a mysterious seal hunter, to uncover buried secrets, Vera immerses herself in the rugged and eerie community. Marking Newfoundland writer-director Justin Oakey’s follow-up to The King Tide for which he served as editor and won the AIFF Award for Best Editing, Hangashore is a visually arresting thriller that is steeped in folklore, superstition, and a simmering sense of supernatural dread.

A Q&A with director Justin Oakey will follow the screening.
