Directors Andrea Brusa and Marco Scotuzzi deliver a charming, modern-day tale with their debut feature, Lonely Voices. Long-married couple Rita and Giovanni live with their teenage son in Italy until the pandemic forces Giovanni to take a job in Poland. Worried he’s not eating well, Rita begins giving him cooking lessons via videophone which their son records and innocently shares online so that Giovanni can see them. Suddenly, Rita and Giovanni go viral and, as so often happens in the world of social media, things get completely out of hand. Their story becomes both a scathing commentary on modern life as well as a brilliantly intimate and relatable story of family relationships in the 21st century.
