In the near future, Maryam and her family must navigate a financial crisis. At the same time, the Swedish government launches an integration tool called Language-maximization, offering immigrants a generous grant to erase all memory of their mother tongue.


About the Filmmaker:

Julia Ammouri is a Swedish filmmaker who explores political and societal structures through intimate, character-driven stories, motivated by a personal search for the universal. Her latest film, My Damn Assignment (2025), premiered at the Gothenburg Film Festival. Sing My Song is her thesis film from the Bachelor’s Programme in Directing – Documentary and Fiction at Stockholm University of the Arts.
