George Lee is an 88-year-old blackjack dealer in Las Vegas with an untold story as an Asian American trailblazer in dance. Driven by his mother to be “ten times better” in white America, he was a teenage refugee from Shanghai when, in 1954, George Balanchine cast him in The Nutcracker and later, in 1958, director Gene Kelly picked him for the Broadway cast of The Flower Drum Song. George was a pioneer, whose story is only coming to light now. Film image, synopsis and related credits courtesy of Pentalina Productions.
