Born in 1915, Mister Yiannis passed away at the age of 94. A year before his demise, he narrated before camera the most important and difficult part of his life, which was during the pandemic of 1918 when he lost both of his parents and two of his five siblings.

Although Mister Yiannis was not highly educated, having dropped out of elementary school in the first grade, he manages to describe his turbulent life with a simple and moving narration, in a style that sometimes mirrors that of General Yannis Makriyannis.

Mister Yiannis begins the narrative with his childhood and student years and then talks about his enlistment and participation in the Greek-Italian war, during which he was arrested by the German invaders. He narrates not only the conditions that prevailed in the war-torn Greek province, but also his adventures on the Albanian front, where he spends most of his time.

The report of his struggles adds another page to the history of modern Greece.
