On March 7, 2005, the southern Italian town of Cavallerizzo suffered a terrible landslide. Fortunately, there were no injuries or deaths, and the old town centre is still intact. The Italian Civil Defence evacuated all residents and relocated them for six years in “Neo Cavallerizzo,” located three kilometres from the old village.

Since the landslide, old Cavallerizzo has only two inhabitants, 70-year-old Liliana Bianco and her 40-year-old son Raffaele. For 15 years, they have ignored the order to evacuate and the opinions of their former neighbours. This situation has created a deep wound among the displaced community.

The film explores the consequences of a divided community and the struggle to preserve their ancient Albanian traditions. The film does not focus on the political aspects of the story, rather on the social and psychological consequences of the landslide on the people living in the area. The narration highlights the lives of the protagonists in an observational style, preferring the “poetry of reality” to journalistic facts.
