As a young French and Latvian woman, carrying these two cultures seemed harmless to me for a long time. Until the day when, while studying, I discovered a Latvia torn between glorification of the resistance to Sovietism and absolute silence concerning the period of the German occupation. In a game of singular resonances, I soon understood that this silence was found even in my family, also inhabited by the unspoken. My film is as much an investigation into this family and national omerta as it is an attempt to understand the complexity of different perceptions of the same history.
