Leila and Maria. Two women, who symbolise all of Cyprus. The husband of Turkish Cypriot Leila, is missing, the Greek Cypriot Maria is a refugee. Their love eliminates the hate of war. Their tears dried with the same handkerchief water the hope that has the power to penetrate the barbed wire.

The story of these two women is the cornerstone for this documentary, inspired by Leila's book "The White Wet Handkerchief We Shared". Her experiences from 1974, as well as the way of life she gradually forms is another parallel cornerstone for this documentary.
