On August 4, 1897, Manuel Campello, son of one of the day laborers who cleared the land of La Alcudia to turn it into an agricultural farm, discovered by chance the stone bust of a woman. The Lady of Elche soon aroused the international interest of archaeologists and experts, helped catalog Iberian art and placed La Alcudia under study and in the eyes of researchers and patrons, eager to find pieces of the beauty and relevance of the Lady.

The documentary “120 años, historias de la Dama” recreates those moments through the key characters in his discovery, sale, study and protection of Villa Illici.

An intimate trip to the past that has the testimonies of scholars who will shed light on the great doubts: Why was it never again excavated in the place where the lady appeared? Did Pierre Paris and Albertini really know where the Lady was found or were they misinformed about the point when they made their excavations in 1905 for fear that the site would be robbed? Likewise, we will know details and anecdotes told by the descendants of Manuel Campello about the casual discovery that marked his life. An emotional bond that is part of all the stories forged around the most recognized figure of Iberian art.
