Foça is famous for its blue sky and blue waters, and the shores of its “Little Harbour” are lined with fishing boats. The modest local fishermen earn their keep one day at a time. “The Rhythm of Life – In the Waters of Foça”, produced during the FFG-İFTYD Video Production Workshop (as part of the 3-Festival Cultural Exchange in the South-eastern Mediterranean), invites us to share a day with a two-man team of net fishermen who work at the shore in harmony with nature. Purse-net fishing starts with a period of waiting in calm silence with focused attention, but once the fish hit the net, the rhythm accelerates and the excitement continues until the goal is reached…and everything starts all over again. This film offers a poetic glimpse of a sustainable form of fishing conducted for generations without harming the life cycle of the fish that is being caught.

Gökyüzünün ve denizinin mavisiyle ünlü Foça’da, Küçük Deniz sahilinde boncuk gibi dizili balıkçı tekneleri vardır. Bu balıkçılar mütevazı bir balıkçılıkla günlerini ve yarınlarını kazanırlar. “Döngünün Ritmi-Foça Sularında” doğaya saygılı kıyı balıkçılığı türlerinden çökertme dalyan balıkçılığı yapan iki kişilik bir ekibin bir gününe misafir oluyor. Dalyan balıkçılığında, sakin, sessiz, pür dikkat beklemekle geçen bir zamanın ardından, av tuzağa girince hareketlenen, heyecanla hızlanan bir ritim amacına ulaştıkça tekrar eder. Film, nesillerdir balıkların yaşam döngülerine zarar vermeden sürdürülen bu balıkçılık türünü manzum bir anlatım eşliğinde gözler önüne seriyor.
