GREEK LYCEUM OF FAMAGUSTA: "A SEAL OF REMEMBRANCE"

Expired February 28, 2022 8:00 PM
Already unlocked? for access

The Greek Lyceum of Famagusta (GLF) is a landmark of King Evagoras’ city. It was founded on January 30th 1930, by late Maria P. Ioannou, the inspiring teacher and benefactor and pioneered the cultural development of the women of Famagusta.

Our documentary ventures “a journey” into the history of the Lyceum, before the Turkish invasion, as well as during the years of displacement. Through our research of archived material at the Lyceum’s temporary headquarters in Limassol and interviews of the unflagging ladies of the administrative board, we realized that the Greek Lyceum of Famagusta, supported by its members’ voluntarism, has been actively and consistently present in all national and cultural pursuits of our country for nine decades.

Soon, when Turkish occupancy sheds away, we hope to stand again on the threshold of its marble hall and continue its endeavour.
