Our Visions shorts program returns to once again to showcase outstanding, world-class short films by some of the most talented filmmakers of the day. This year's program features four beautiful shorts about different types of relationships: friendly, familial and romantic. Each vignette brings something unique to the table whether it is a story not often told or a style not often seen.

He got my Bachelor degree in Screenwriting and Directing from Notre-Dame University - Louaize (NDU).

Saadi’s first short fiction film Borekas was part of the Official Selection of the Palm Springs International ShortFest (2021), his second short film A'lam, which he wrote, directed and acted in premiered in the Hollyshorts Film Festival.

Two friends spend a final night together, the events of which bring to the surface he complexity of their friendship.

Shams, an Uber driver in Jeddah, is a single mother with two obsessions: her only child, Makki, and her African desserts. Shams struggles to convince Makki to follow the traditional path of marriage and to show any interest in her desserts. In fact, Makki’s passion unravels as he decides to participate in a hip-hop competition, which could lead to winning an extended trip to France and separate them for the first time in their lives. Shams is forced to decide which is more important: losing her son or finding herself. Her directorial debut short film, MARIAM (2015) won numerous international awards, including being showcased at UNESCO in Paris, the Scottish Parliament, and is continually being screened at universities around the world. Faiza was also involved in the production of SANCTITY (Berlinale 2013), AVE MARIA (Cannes, Oscars 2015) and A GAZA WEEKEND (TIFF 2022)&nbsp;

Nour Shams

When Shams’ only son enters a hip-hop competition, her vision of their future is turned upside down.

On a street in Berlin, Sara joins her boyfriend Tarek in a line to view a flat. Sara just came from the gynecologist; she is 10 weeks pregnant. Tarek starts discussing marriage plans, after all an Egyptian couple they have no choice but to marry. But Sara who has left Cairo in search of free life struggles to accept that they should ignore all their problems as a couple and rush to marry for the baby. When she fails to stop Tarek’s excited planning, she breaks the news; that she already had an abortion. Miles away from home, Sara is still battling the demons of her patriarchal society that are mirrored in her relationship with Tarek. She has over 10 years of experience in facilitating storytelling workshops, documenting personal narratives, and directing theater performances of women and gender-based stories.
