In 1919, an ambitious expedition saw some 300 military personnel and 81 heavy-duty vehicles traverse a challenging 3,251-mile path from Washington, DC, to San Francisco along the Lincoln Highway. With no maps or roadside assistance to guide them, the convoy navigated based on the scant knowledge passed down from earlier trailblazers through the mud and quicksand. This remarkable journey captured the nation's imagination, drawing cheers from millions along the route. Among the convoy's ranks was a young lieutenant colonel, Dwight D. Eisenhower, who would later become Supreme Commander in WWII and the 34th President of the United States (January 20, 1953 – January 20, 1961). "After Ike" delves into this pivotal expedition with thorough research and personal narratives, connecting audiences to historical figures including President Eisenhower.
