Join aGLIFF for a virtual evening including dinner, music, and a web series


Fresh off showing her latest short film CC DANCES THE GO-GO at aGLIFF 33: Prism, Director Erin C. Buckley will share her web series PLATONIC in a unique evening entwining food, friends, conversation, and an intimate performance. 


Set in a memory of New York City just before the pandemic, PLATONIC follows Olive (a lesbian Brooklynite) and Billy (her straight best friend) as they look for love and document their search via voicemail messages to each other. This 10-episode series juxtaposes the radical intimacy and hazy boundaries of non-romantic relationships with the sexual fluidity and emotional ambiguity of modern dating.


aGLIFF will show the web series with a twist on Wednesday, September 30 at 7:00 p.m. CST. The organization has invited Austin-based Tina G, formerly of the popular hip-hop/pop/soul duo God-des and She, to the party to show off her culinary skills. She will walk viewers through how to take their grilled cheese to the next level with cooking segments sprinkled between Buckley’s episodes. Viewers can follow along and enjoy the food and drink while they watch the web series. Guests can join a Live Q&A with Buckley and a virtual mini set performed by Tina G afterwards. TICKETS are FREE for aGLIFF Members who register in advance. $10 for non-members.


Tina G will present a menu of fancy fromage sandwiches along with three delicious takes on a Bloody Mary. 


French Inspired Grilled Cheese: Crisp bacon and brie with granny smith apples grilled to perfection on a croissant.  Paired with a Creole Bloody Mary made with vodka, chilled tomato juice, fresh lime juice, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco hot sauce, celery salt and black pepper.


Ingredient List (for two):                    Drink Recipe:


2 – Bakery fresh croissants                 1 cup of Tito’s Handmade Vodka

1 – Large Granny Smith apple            4 ½ cups of chilled tomato juice

1 – Package of bacon                          2 tablespoons of fresh lime juice

1 – Brie                                                1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce

                                                            4-6 dashes of Tabasco sauce

                                                            Celery salt and black pepper


Optional garnishes: celery stalks, lime slices, pickled okra, asparagus, string beans



Mexican Inspired Grilled Cheese: Avocado, tomatoes and pickled jalapeno with manchego cheese on bolillos. Paired with a Bloody Maria made with Tequila, tomato juice, horseradish, Tabasco sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, fresh lime juice, celery salt and black pepper.


Ingredient List (for two):                    Drink Recipe:


2 – Bakery fresh bolillos                     2 oz of Tequila

1 – Ripe avocado                                1 teaspoon horseradish

1 – Ripe tomato                                  3 dashes of Tabasco sauce

1 – Jar of pickled jalapenos                3 dashes of Worcestershire sauce

Manchego cheese                               1 dash fresh lime juice

                                                            1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

                                                            3 dashes of celery salt

                                                            3 dashes of pepper

                                                            6 ounces tomato juice (more or less to fill glass)


Optional garnishes: Celery stalks, lemon or lime wedge, cucumber, cocktail shrimp 


                                 

Italian Inspired Grilled Cheese: Prosciutto with fresh mozzarella, sundried tomatoes, and banana peppers on Italian bread.  Paired with the Italian Stallion Bloody made with vodka, tomato juice, chili powder, cumin, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco sauce, pesto sauce, Spanish olives, fresh lemon juice, salt and pepper.


Ingredient List (for two):                                Drink Recipe:


1 – Loaf of bakery fresh Italian bread            6 oz of Tito’s Handmade Vodka

4-6 slices of Deli fresh prosciutto                   32 oz tomato juice

1 – package or jar of sundried tomatoes       1 teaspoon chili powder

1 – jar of banana peppers                               1 teaspoon cumin

Fresh Mozzarella                                            2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

                                                                        1 dash of Tabasco sauce

                                                                        2 tablespoons pesto sauce

                                                                        12 Spanish olives

                                                                        1 dash of fresh lemon juice

                                                                        1 tablespoon of salt

                                                                        1 tablespoon of pepper


Optional garnishes: Celery sticks, zucchini
