Youth v Gov is the story of America’s youth taking on the world’s most powerful government. Armed with a wealth of evidence, twenty-one courageous leaders file a ground-breaking lawsuit in Eugene, Oregon against the U.S. government, asserting it has willfully acted over six decades to create the climate crisis, thus endangering their constitutional rights to life, liberty, and property. If these young people are successful, they will not only make history, they will change the future. (APRIL 23-24)

Director’s Statement: Christi Cooper

Although Youth v Gov is about a monumental, legal battle, it is more about these young peoples’ journey as they take ownership over their constitutional rights and hold their government accountable. I connect with stories that take me behind the doors and into the lives of characters, allowing for empathy and understanding and sometimes even frustration and consternation. It’s the stories of real people making the world go around that, for me, are the ones that need telling, and that’s what Youth v Gov is all about. I can’t imagine a more important story to tell today.
