Mutinda was on Kenya’s most wanted list in the 80s and 90s. He was single handedly decimating the wildlife population in the Amboseli region, and Kenya Wildlife Service had a warrant out for his capture, dead or alive. His wife told him she was leaving him if he couldn’t find another job because she was scared he would be killed, and she couldn’t stick around to watch any longer. But tracking and hunting was all Mutinda knew. His father was a poacher and had taught him well. Mutinda had a family to provide for, and felt that poaching was his only option for work. 18 years ago, he was presented with another option that would allow him to use his tracking skills for good.

Two men squat on their beds, still half asleep. Entering by way of a crack in the door, the wind blows through their meagre dwelling. After a while, the young man hands the older one a pill, adding it is the last. It is in tersely concise tableaus such as this, captured in enchanting black and white, that the story unfolds of an everyday catastrophe taking place on the Somali coast. While the son takes care of his dying father, the surrounding countryside grows empty. Neighbors are in the process of moving out as the young man delivers a load of sand to a long since abandoned construction site. Only its owner remains, hanging on to a prayer chain, his last mainstay.&nbsp; It has been over the course of several decades that Europeans, above all the former colonial power Italy – have been dumping illegal toxic garbage in the ocean at the Horn of Africa, allegedly in exchange for arms shipments to local warring parties. Since the 2004 earthquake and subsequent tsunami devastated the region, the Somali coastal area is contaminated. How does one show such a "slow" catastrophe, with causes and effects that stretch over the course of several human lifetimes?&nbsp;Life on the Horn&nbsp;tells it elliptically, near wordlessly, using the bare minimum, finding precise and highly sensitive images to register this chronic violence – in gazes, gestures, landscapes.&nbsp; Director Mo Harawe was born in Mogadishu&nbsp;and has been living in Austria since 2009. "Alles hat Grenzen, NUR DER MONDFISCH NICHT" is an environmental musical, in which nature acts and speaks in a diversity of voices.

In the Solomon Islands, communities have maintained a deep spiritual connection to nature, and in particular, to the sacred, historic, and biologically unique forest of the mountainous regions. Although a growing colonial and missionary presence in the early 1900s prompted many villages to leave the protections of the interior forests and resettle along the coasts, ties to the high 'elevated forests' – or 'Sky Islands' – persisted. Visitors to the Sky Islands marvel at its magic and mystery. These rugged mountainous spaces are the head and heart, the pulse of the island. It’s a place where rhythm, grace and mystery remain, breathing life and revitalisation back into it's people and wildlife. The Sky Islands are inextricably linked with the welfare of indigenous peoples. The forests and rivers provide everything needed to sustain oneself; materials to build traditional homes; bamboo to craft musical instruments, and so on. Tuned by adjusting the bamboo lengths, these musical instruments produce melodic harmonies that are characteristic of traditional Solomon Islands music. The allure of the Sky Islands is challenged only by the dread of losing these special areas, as deforestation rises in the Solomon Islands (due to expanding villages, agricultural pursuits, and industrial logging). Sky Aelans is a film rooted in the necessity of protecting the Sky Islands. This short film celebrates the faces and spaces within these forests in order to reinforce that these connections, both biological and spiritual, should hold strong for generations to come.

The documentary follows the two activists during a night drive as they fight against the tide of plastic waste being sent to Malaysia from overseas.
