Continuing our exploration of the 2021 annual theme “Travel and Leisure,” Docomomo US presents ALUMINATION, the Airstream documentary, as part of our Mission for Modernism series. This is a private, preview screening offered in advance of its world premiere this September at Freep Film Festival in Detroit. The screening will be followed by a moderated Q&A with filmmaker Eric Bricker on Sunday, August 22nd at 7:00 p.m. ET.

In 1929, Airstream founder Wally Byam built his first travel trailer in the backyard of his California home. Today, Airstream signifies more than memories of a “silver bullet” gliding down the highway; it evokes the spirit of innovation, resilience and adventure.
