For over six years, Matt Green, 37, has been pursuing an unusual personal quest. He’s walking every street in New York City – a journey of more than 8,000 miles that takes him through hundreds of neighborhoods. In order to pursue this project, Matt quit his job, gave up his apartment, and now lives on about $15 per day. When he’s not out walking, Matt spends his time researching the myriad curiosities that catch his eye – be it a national landmark or a humble manhole cover. While he has devoted years of his life to this endeavor, Matt is not sure why he’s doing it. He just feels compelled to walk, and to seek out moments of understanding about his world and the people who live in it.

From director Jeremy Workman and executive producer Jesse Eisenberg comes a film culled from more than 500 hours of footage shot over three years. It’s a story of one man’s personal mission, and the journey of discovery, humanity, and wonder that ensues. Initially a look at a single city and the people who live there, THE WORLD BEFORE YOUR FEET unexpectedly transforms into a reflection on our larger world and its endless possibilities.
