The short films Gita GovindaField-Trip, and Scenes from a Sketchbook use radically different approaches to the 17th-century painter Nainsukh (the subject of Dutta’s feature of the same name) and his descendants’ work. Field-Trip follows scholar B. N. Goswamy as he tracks down contemporary vestiges of Nainsukh’s lineage. Description by Max Goldberg, courtesy of the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive.
