Meet the next generation of animators from the United States and France! Discover who won Best French Short, Best American Short, and the Special Audience Award!

FIAF's inaugural Animation First Student Competition has brought together emerging talents from some of the most renowned animation schools in the United States and France: CalArts (California), Ringling College of Art and Design (Florida), SVA (New York), EMCA (Angoulême, France), Gobelins, l’École de l’Image (Paris, France), and RUBIKA (Valenciennes, France).

Each school selected five films from the graduating class of 2020. Acclaimed animator Kristof Serrand, formerly of DreamWorks and currently at Netflix, presided over the jury along with two students from each of the schools. Winners will receive a one-on-one session with Serrand to discuss their work and receive valuable advice.

Watch the films in two programs—American Shorts and French Shorts—with your Festival Pass!
