Building Leonardo da Vinci’s Inventions

In English

Over 500 years after Leonardo da Vinci invented them, the machines designed by him in the 1480s are finally becoming a reality. Da Vinci, a true innovator in all areas of Arts & Sciences, left hundreds of codexes—the historical ancestor of the modern book—including thousands of drawings, books, notes, maps, and calculations.

Now, for the first time, a few of Da Vinci's machines have been manufactured using design and simulation applications on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform of Dassault Systèmes. In a global challenge, a community of passionate designers and engineers from around the world gathered together to work on the Da Vinci's codexes, finding brilliant solutions and bringing Da Vinci's designs to life using Dassault Systèmes’ incomparable 3D technology.

In this documentary:

— Filmmaker Jim Capobianco speaks about his vision for his film The Inventor and explains Da Vinci's constant search for arts, sciences, and technology to improve human life.

— Enjoy an exclusive look at some of Da Vinci's machines in action within the gardens of the Château du Clos Lucé in the Loire Valley.
