The Animation First Student Short Film Competition is back for its second edition, showcasing emerging talent from some of the most renowned animation schools in France and the United States.

The schools invited to participate in this year's competition include Gobelins, l’École de l’Image (Paris, France), RUBIKA (Valenciennes, France), EMCA (Angoulême, France), École des Nouvelles Images (Avignon, France), California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) (California), Ringling College of Art and Design (Florida), School of Visual Arts (SVA NYC) (New York), and Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD)(Georgia).

Each school selected five graduation films from the class of 2021. Acclaimed animator Kristof Serrand (The Prince of Egypt, Kung Fu Panda, and Abominable), presided over the jury composed of two students from each of the schools.

Prizes for Best French Student Short and Best American Student Short will be awarded during a live online awards ceremony on Sat, Feb 19 at 2pm ET. The ceremony is free and open to all.

Winners will receive a one-on-one session with Serrand to discuss their work and receive his invaluable advice.

In addition to the Student Shorts awards, the Audience Award for the New French Shorts (Programs 1 and 2) will also be announced during this ceremony. Winner will receive a prize from TitraFilm.
