Black Goat

Hong Kong | Drama | 2021 | 12 minutes | Nepali with English subtitles

Director: Tang Yi

Pasang, a new girl at a nunnery, has her first period after hearing a late-night ghost story. She keeps it secret until she bleeds at a prayer session. She believes that she has been cursed and needs to sacrifice a black goat to avoid further misfortune.

She escapes the nunnery and takes on a fantastic journey to search for a black goat. After a bizarre funeral in her dreams, she makes peace with herself. Back in the nunnery, a surprise is waiting for her. This is a story about confronting our fears and learning to live with it.

Yi enjoys telling stories about women, underrepresented groups and social issues, which she captures through a subversive, darkly comedic film lens. Her other works include Black Goat and Yokelan, 66. Represented by WME and M88, Yi is now developing her first feature-length project.
