Hollywood North presented by Vancouver Asian Film Festival

To celebrate our 25th anniversary during Asian Pacific Heritage Month, Vancouver Asian Film Festival has curated these award winning short films from our local communities featuring stories about Asian Canadian history, Asian diaspora culture, and the rigid traditions of some Asian families. There will also be a local musician sharing his experiences with mental health issues. We continue to showcase Asian Canadian stories as we celebrate diversity in film. Stay tuned for our upcoming festival from Nov. 4 - 14, 2021, and learn more at vaff.org.

HAYASHI STUDIO follows the diverse lives that came to Vancouver Island in the 1900's. Hayashi used his lens to document every race, class, and gender. During internment his photos were lost, and a century later the photos were found and exhibited. They showcase diverse and racialized communities in the Pacific Northwest.
