Hollywood North presented by Vancouver Asian Film Festival

To celebrate our 25th anniversary during Asian Pacific Heritage Month, Vancouver Asian Film Festival has curated these award winning short films from our local communities featuring stories about Asian Canadian history, Asian diaspora culture, and the rigid traditions of some Asian families. There will also be a local musician sharing his experiences with mental health issues. We continue to showcase Asian Canadian stories as we celebrate diversity in film. Stay tuned for our upcoming Festival from Nov. 4 - 14, 2021, and learn more at vaff.org.

Eager to gain her approval, Curtis and his girlfriend hunt for the perfect birthday cake for his grandma. Panic and terror ensue as Curtis confronts long held cultural expectations and rigid family traditions, and he finally reveals the news to his grandma – the woman he loves is not Chinese.
