Daughters of the Ocean presented by Pacific Islanders in Communications

Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of Pacific Islanders In Communications (PIC), these films honor years of PIC funding to continue storytelling traditions through media. From Hawaii to Samoa, to Southern California to Aotearoa; these stories reflect the generosity of the waters that connect the Pasifika diaspora. These "Daughters of the Ocean" bring that generosity and love to every aspect of their lives.

The mission of Pacific Islanders in Communications (PIC) is to support, advance, and develop Pacific Island media content and talent that results in a deeper understanding of Pacific Island history, culture, and contemporary challenges. In keeping with the mission, PIC helps Pacific Islander stories reach national audiences through funding support for productions, training and education, broadcast services, and community outreach. Due to Covid-19, the Kutturan Chamoru Foundation’s operations have been reduced. To maintain its mission, KCF leaders have members learn how to create an in-language chant and have it published. However, in order to do this, members will meet online, in isolation, and learn how to work together apart.
