SYNOPSIS
The film documents the historical research and archaeological explorations for shipwrecks at the entrance shoals to Port Royal Sound, South Carolina (USA).
Consisting of field activities and interviews, the movie records the process of searching for shipwrecks through marine remote-sensing operations, diving, and historical research.
The efforts are financed by a NOAA Office of Exploration Research award to the Maritime Research Division, South Carolina Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology at the University of South Carolina, Columbia.
ABOUT THE DIRECTOR
Three producers: James Spirek, State Underwater Archaeologist and Principal Investigator; Jim has worked there since 1996 and in his current position since 2012. His responsibilities include managing and studying the maritime archaeological legacy residing in the lakes, rivers, and coastal waters of South Carolina.
Shannon Farlow, principal, Farlow + Co, devoted to advertising, writing, and content creation. Shannon has an interest in underwater archaeology and organized the efforts to create this short film.
Martin Buchanan, principal, Oh Shoot Productions, lifetime advertising and marketing professional with storytelling chops. My background in advertising agencies as an art director/designer then executive creative director has filled me with an understanding and expertise in creating engaging stories for brands.
