Phekan's journey to the city for work unfolds in stark vignettes of exploitation and deceit, culminating in a violent clash with the police, leaving him battered and disillusioned. Back home, Rukhiya is tormented by whispers branding her a witch, and an ominous voice threatens her son's life unless she makes an unthinkable sacrifice, driving her to madness. Phekan's fleeting moments of hope—delivering newspapers and aiding a stranded cart owner—are overshadowed by betrayal, false accusations, and a frenzied mob.
