After having his car stolen, director Hesam Eslami meets Ehsan, the leader of an adolescent crime gang that breaks into cars regularly. What forms is a close relationship between the director and the members of the group, as Eslami follows their steps for six whole years. The film gives an intimate look into Ehsan and the gang’s life by documenting thefts, wild chases, running from the police, imprisonment, release, and, ultimately, the gang splitting up.

Docunight started in 2014 as a monthly screening program to show Iranian documentaries in North America, and expanded to 25 cities by 2020. After screenings were stopped due to the pandemic, Docunight started a streaming platform with the goal of becoming an online library for documentaries from or about Iran. Docunight recently started expanding its collection to documentaries about Afghanistan as well. Currently, Docunight has about 200 films, and adds new documentaries every week.

Docunight is an initiative undertaken by the Kiarostami Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit based in California, USA.
