80° NORTH (Winner - Special Jury Award for Directing) A group of international artists explore the Arctic island chain of Svalbard. Set against dramatic natural backdrops, the artists share their hopes, fears, and insights on encountering an environment undergoing radical change. Director's Bio:<img src="https://storage.googleapis.com/eventive-static/9fb3fc7a327789546cb28145378ba641.jpg" width="175" style="display: inline; float: right; margin: 0px 0px 1em 1em;">Brandon Holmes is a Texas-raised, New York-based filmmaker and photographer. As a documentary editor and post-production assistant, he has worked on projects produced by Alex Gibney, Martin Smith, Marcela Gaviria, and Ric Burns. His interest in how we relate to the natural world has led him to interview scientists in the American Southwest and Pacific Northwest, and artists in the Arctic Circle.

THE RISING Climate change is quickly altering the shape of the Northwest — its ecosystems, its coastlines, and the ways of life of the humans who live on it. This is perhaps felt most acutely by the Quinault Indian Nation on the Pacific Coast, where declining salmon stocks, sea level rise and increased tsunami risk are forcing them to confront the reality of relocating two of their villages from the place they’ve inhabited since time immemorial. As the Quinault spread their message of climate resiliency, they also continue to paddle the canoes of their ancestors into the sea that both sustains and threatens them. She covers science and environment for KCTS/Crosscut; Seattle's PBS affiliate.&nbsp;Film screenings include Ragtag Cinema, Columbia, MO; Dundee Theatre, Omaha, NE; Lumix Festival, Hanover, Germany.

HERE WE STAND For generations, conservation has been about keeping people from places. Now, Save the Redwoods League and Teresa Baker ask what it would look like for conservation to include people, even those that normally are in the margins. Director's Bio:<img src="https://storage.googleapis.com/eventive-static/c93ddb2a904009b5eb0a1f00940518b4.jpg" width="200" style="display: inline; float: right; margin: 0px 0px 1em 1em;">Chris Cresci is a filmmaker based in Portland, Oregon. Originally from rural Washington State, he moved to California to study film production at Chapman University's Dodge College of Film.

HERE WE STAND Wyn Wiley (he/him), a.k.a. Pattie Gonia (she/her), has made waves over the past year as an environmental advocate drag queen. We follow Wyn as he travels to Hawaii to see first-hand the impacts of careless consumption and plastics on Mother Nature (or as Pattie says, "Mother Natch"). Wyn meets with scientists, non-profit leaders, volunteers, then rallies the Pattie community to lead a beach clean-up. Ultimately, Wyn partners with sustainable fashion designer, Angela Luna, to create three dresses that personify the plastics crisis. Director's Bio:<img src="https://storage.googleapis.com/eventive-static/cd5a66a1ed0b3603f3b319e5c6cf6495.jpg" width="150" style="display: inline; float: right; margin: 0px 0px 1em 1em;">Tim Kressin is passionate about asking hard questions, calling people into adventure, and diving deep into friendships. He does this mainly through film and tacos. He is the co-founder of Wondercamp, a production company based in Seattle that shares the stories of everyday world changers, status quo shakers, and adventure takers around the world.
