One man refuses to be forced off his family’s land as encroaching petrochemical plants threaten to destroy a historic African American community in Louisiana.

Watch Mossville: When Great Trees Fall and listen to this great conversation between BendFilm and the Mossville residents and filmmakers. Joining BendFilm are: Erica Jackson and Destinee JonesErica Jackson and Destinee Jones represent two generations of the Fisher Family, an historical&nbsp;Mossville&nbsp;family. Erica, Destinee's mother, is a longtime resident of&nbsp;Mossville, and Destinee spent most of her life there and now lives in the adjacent town of Sulfur. Daughter and granddaughter to Dorothy Felix, founder of&nbsp;Mossville&nbsp;Environmental Action Now (MEAN), they are a critical part of a lineage of environmental activists in Louisiana and the Gulf South, and have the unfortunate and unjust first-hand experience of environmental injustice and community displacement.&nbsp;&nbsp; Alex Glustrom:Alexander Glustrom has directed, shot, produced, and edited a wide variety of film projects ranging from commercial, music, and art videos for major networks such as HBO, PBS, A&amp;E, Al Jazeera, Democracy Now, and Fusion. Alex's major work is the award winning documentary film, "Big Charity," which he directed, shot and edited. "Big Charity" won The Jury Award and Audience Award at The New Orleans Film Festival, and the 2015 Documentary of the Year by Louisiana Endowment For The Humanities. Alex was awarded "Filmmaker of the Year" at the 2015 New Orleans Millennial Awards and named as one of New Orleans' "40 under 40 brightest and most innovative young people" by Gambit Magazine. Catherine Rierson:Catherine Rierson is an award-winning filmmaker based in Louisiana. With a strong journalistic background, her work, often observational and lyrical in approach, examines the relationship between identity and sense of place. Most recently, Catherine produced "Mossville: When Great Trees Fall," a documentary about one Louisiana man’s stand against the petrochemical industry. Catherine also story produced and co-produced "40 Days and 40 Nights" (2020) – an IFP Forum-participating film sponsored by JustFilms and the Bertha Foundation – about poverty and the people fighting to end it, as well as produced two recently-released narrative shorts, "Stella for Star"(2019) and "Quiet and Clear"(2019). Prior to this, Catherine worked as a fixer, researcher, and field producer for the "Cajun Mardi Gras” episode of Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown. She also produced the Guggenheim Foundation-grantee documentary, "Sick to Death" (2017); the narrative short, "The Executioner" (2015); and the award-winning documentary, "Big Charity" (2015).
