
Following Lee Knight, a queer, Black, non-binary star athlete, as they pursue their dream of becoming a competitive bull rider in the International Gay Rodeo (IGRA). As Lee struggles to overcome injury and navigate personal adversity, they find camaraderie in the vibrant world of the Gay Rodeo circuit: a world where drag queens sing the National Anthem, queer couples dance freely at barn dances, and every gender is welcome in the chutes.
Director's Bio: Jenna Avriel Rice is a multidisciplinary storyteller whose work spans film, documentary photography, and multimedia installation art. Her storytelling is rooted in social and environmental justice, exploring themes around LGBTQ+ rights, immigrant rights, trauma, healing and the power of human connection. Jenna’s work aims to cultivate empathy and understanding in a divided world.
Jenna is committed to mentorship and community collaboration as a part of her creative process. Whether bringing together youth and elders for inter-generational photography projects, or teaching migrants and undeserved youth how to make short films, she believes in using art to build stronger communities.
Jenna holds an MFA in Writing for Film and Television from Stephens College and a BA in Fine Art and Cultural Studies from Evergreen State College.
