The fast-evolving entertainment landscape is creating new strategies in the independent film space, changes only accelerated by the pandemic. Additionally, there's a growing concern that the challenges of indie film production are becoming harder to overcome. But Jenifer Westphal and Joe Plummer from Wavelength are thriving and expanding, and will share their unique perspective including their dedication to supporting diverse and emerging filmmakers. Moderated by producer and BIFF Executive Director David Tochterman


Helmed by Variety’s 2020 Producer to Watch Jenifer Westphal, Wavelength has produced over 60 films since its founding in 2015. Wavelength has curated a truly impressive roster of award-winning, buzz-worthy films including Won’t You Be My Neighbor?Farewell AmorFeels Good Man and Maybe Next Year along with Sundance hits Cusp, Night Comes On, Where’s My Roy Cohn? and Selah and the Spades. Wavelength is also dedicated to cultivating diverse filmmakers in all stages of their careers, contributing regularly to grants, mentorship, and workshops. 2020 marks the second year of Wavelength’s signature WAVE Grant and the launch of the Black New Wave developed in conjunction with the Black TV & Film Collective in NYC.
