State of Palestine

A poignant love story about divorce under military occupation. Based on a true story, the film follows a 30-something married couple, Salma and Tamer, who have been living in the occupied West Bank for five years and are now divorcing. The first time Tamer, a West Bank ID holder and the son of a famous Palestinian revolutionary killed in Beirut, is ever granted a three-day permit to cross the checkpoint and enter Israel, is to file for divorce in the courts in Nazareth, Salma's home town. At the courthouse, they are unexpectedly confronted with a staggering discovery, a secret that sends them spinning on a wild road trip exploring the loss and betrayal of the past, and of themselves.
