"Nedelja" follows the life of the popular singer Dzej Ramadanovski, that is the period from his early youth to the beginning of his musical career - the first major solo concert, with which the film ends. Dzej is a boy from Dorćol, incredibly charming and generous. For him, the street represents an environment more important than school, than home... he grew up on the streets, got an education, solved moral dilemmas, found friendships and lost love. Dzej had a pretty rough childhood. He was often rejected by friends, acquaintances, even his closest family. His strong, cheerful and unwavering spirit did not break, but rather his difficult childhood conditioned his musical creativity later on, which is why it also remained an authentic legacy. The story follows the period from 1976 to 1991. Dzej is the narrator of the film who takes us not only through his life, but also through the life of Dorćol in that period, through several time changes in which the hero and the other characters change more or less. That world is rich, humorous, sad and joyful, full of life and spirit, and these are the main characters of this film. Noble in intentions and ultimately crooked is why Dzej spent part of his early youth in the juvenile detention center. Despite the fact that he never stole, the social service in the seventies ware very strict, so he often ended up in a juvenile home even when he was absent from school. At juvenile center, Dzej was particularly emotional on a day - Sunday, when the whole family gathered at home and he was not there. Suppressed grief is the trigger for his motivation to become someone important. Dzej doesn't know how to become "someone important". Singing is just a casual entertainment for him, which older guys ask him to do when they find him on the streets. He spends much more time and concentration on matchmaking and Dorćol gambling games - krleč and barbut. On the streets, he meets Nina, a blonde girl – Princess of Dorćol, for whom he will lose his head as a kid, until later when he finds the love of his life, the gypsy woman Nadica, whom he will marry and have children with. Dzej meets Marina Tucaković and Futa, at that moment he was accompanied by a friend who is supposed to sell them jackets. Then Marina and Futa accidentally hear Dzej singing and go crazy for his voice. Since 1987, his career has been developing and his popularity is growing, but Dzej does not change anything in his character, while everyone around him changes. A special emphasis in the film is the relationship between Dzej and his brother Isalera Jamba, who was then considered one of the more dangerous people on the streets, who just disappeared from the face of the earth. For Dzej, the family is the nucleus from which everything arises, and the essence of almost the entire film is the family drama shown through its dissfunctionality in order to reconnect.
