Director Statement
Unfortunately, the war in Yemen is severely underreported, so it's essential we shed light on untold stories from the conflict. This film exposes Britains deep involvement in the tragedy.
Working with CAAT in documenting the case, I admired the years of determination, bravery and love that it entailed.
Not only did they manage to stop arms sales and save lives in Yemen, but the success of this case has paved way for current court cases, including those against British arms sales to Israel in 2024.
As citizens, it's essential we watch this film to witness the public exercising their democratic right to accountability, scrutinising their government on foreign policy and defence.
Director Biography - Eva McQuadeTrained with award-winning documentary production company 'OTOXO Productions' in Barcelona, Eva co-directed her first documentary 'Todo Por Jugar' in 2018.
With academic experience in Peace Studies, she now produces political documentary focusing on conflict, security and human rights.
Eva directed a 7-part video series '7 Myths that Sustain the Global Arms Trade' with Demilitarise Education (dED). Then, she was asked to direct 'Don't Buy a Bomb' in collaboration with the Campaign Against Arms Trade (CAAT).
‘Don’t Buy a Bomb’ is a short documentary following a 6-year judicial battle against the UK government. Accused of violating international law in Yemen, were British arms sales to Saudi Arabia illegal?
This is the story of a Nobel Peace Prize nominated campaign, comprised of human rights workers, campaigners and lawyers working in solidarity from the UK and Yemen.
Unmask the truth behind the British arms trade and witness a courageous, nonviolent struggle for peace in the corridors of power.
