Director Biography - Ambra Tonini
Ambra Tonini come from a small village around Mantova, Italy. She studied and worked in London, NY, Barcelona, Bogotà, Florence and Paris, where she lives today. She teaches cinema in Paris, animates writing workshops for the HEK project in Bogotà, and creates visual installations based on photography and mixed media. Das Rad is her first documentary.
How the legacy of a story really works? In 1945 Angelo, an Italian prisoner, builds a bike with a German kid, steals the bike and flees Germany. In 1960, Moreno, observes a family of Germans coming to visit his father every summer, in their remote Italian village. In 2019, Ambra want to fix a bike with her father. While doing so, she wonders: does regret remains in our genetic inheritance?
