Director Biography - Quentin Curzon
Quentin Curzon is a humanitarian filmmaker.
He founded Make Waves Films sarl in Geneva, Switzerland, a film company driven to raise awareness and support the good that is happening in the world.
His passion to produce video content for organisations and individuals driven to make a positive impact has taken him from his home in Geneva, to Doctors Assisting in the South Pacific Islands, interviews with ex-rebel groups in the Central African Republic, and capturing stories of local peace builders in the remotest part of Papua New Guinea. His most recent work is a documentary film about the Ocean Viking, a rescue ship that patrols the Mediterranean sea to save the lives of migrants escaping Syria.
Quentin’s passion for filmmaking started when he moved at 18 years old to Australia, where he completed a bachelor in directing at the WA Screen Academy. His student films had success early, notably a nomination for Best Director for a student film at the Australian Director’s Guild Awards in 2018.
He later worked at the documentary film company Joined up in Perth where he had experience as a camera operator on content for SBS, and co-directed a mini series for Discovery Channel.
In 2021 he decided to go back to Geneva, Switzerland and joined two of his passions: filmmaking and humanitarian action and create Make Waves Films sarl, which he has been running independently since then.
This is his debut long form documentary.
Witness the very first steps taken by a newly trained team of deminers to rebuild their nation in the wake of war in Chernihiv, Ukraine. After the war in Ukraine derailed their lives, a young married couple, a former environmental officer and a displaced family join others on a new path to become professional deminers. Experience their gripping two-year journey as they undergo intense training amidst the uncertainty of the Russian invasion. Follow their ups and downs as they adapt to their new reality and witness their resilience in the face of adversity. An inspiring documentary that celebrates the grit of the human spirit to overcome even the toughest challenges.
