Shmil loses face in the ultra-Orthodox community when he is expelled from one of its most prestigious Yeshivas. He will do anything in his power to be allowed to return. Shmil's immature and arrogant behaviour gets him thrown out of the prestigious yeshiva where he has been studying. As the neighborhood prodigy, Shmil can't face up to his failure and uses manipulative tactics to get the attention of the Yeshiva's Rabbi, who nevertheless turns a deaf ear on his entreaties. What will Shmil do next?

The show features a group of four Haredi students who study at a yeshiva in Jerusalem. One of them, Gedalya, is on the straight and narrow, while the other three prefer their Talmud study with a side of hanging out in the park, shopping at the mall and general goofing off. Shababniks is a Hebrew slang word for a Haredi youth who is off the path – but not entirely. There are no tortured heroes or heartbreaking scenes in Shababniks. What you will find in Shababniks is fun, and a lot of it.
