An animated short film that brings to life the remarkable childhood journey of Dr. Ruth escaping Nazi Germany, as she faced the choices that made her who she is today.
EYAL RESH (DIRECTOR) BIO:
Eyal Resh is a live-action and animation filmmaker. Growing up in Tel Aviv, Eyal graduated with excellence in film from Thelma Yellin High School of the Arts, and later served as the director of the Israeli Air Force Cinema Unit. His work aired on national TV in Israel and generated critical acclaim. He is a graduate of the MFA Film Directing Program at CalArts where he was mentored closely by James Franco, James Mangold and Adam Davison. Two of his films were chosen to showcase CalArts at Redcat, Walt Disney Concert Hall.
Eyal’s short film, BOYS was internationally distributed and accumulated over 900k views. The film played at the LA Film Festival, Outfest, Viennale, Hollyshorts and more, and is now available on Amazon Prime and Vimeo On Demand. Eyal was commissioned by Neko Productions to direct 15 minutes of animation in the documentary ASK DR. RUTH, a Delirio Films & Tripod Media production which premiered at Sundance and Tribeca 2019. The film was internationally distributed by Magnolia Pictures and is currently streaming on Hulu along with a featurette about the animation process. Eyal’s new live-action short film, SEE THROUGH, stars Tony nominee Lauren Ridloff. The short premiered at the Short Film Corner at Cannes 2019 and is now in consideration for other festivals.
Eyal’s stories explore the intricacies of the human condition through the themes of intimacy, sex, memory, and communication. He is currently in advanced phases of developing a show titled WIRELESS and a feature film titled REED.
