NORTH AMERICAN PREMIERE

The movie is based on real events and takes place in facist Italy from 1928 - 1945.

When the Italian government banned all youth organisations in the country, 6 young Scouts from Milan decided to create a secret Scout group among themselves and call it “the Stray Eagles” with the goal to combat the state policies of division and keep Scouting alive in Milan. They decided to go to the 5th international Jamboree to meet with Lord Baden Powell, who encourages them to build a strong network of Scouts and leaders around them and keep the values of Scouting in their work.

Using coded and encrypted messages to avoid being discovered, those boys continued to find each other, using the Val Codera (a province of Sondrio), for clandestine activities, summer camps, and evening fires. They were led by Andrea Ghetti, of the Milano 11 group, called Baden, and Giulio Cesare Uccellini, head of Milano 2, who will take the name of Kelly, and who also had the nickname of Bad Boy, given to him by JS Wilson, at the time director of the World Scouting Bureau. Fascism did not ignore them: Kelly was beaten by a squadron, one autumn night, and lost his hearing in one ear.

But this was not enough to stop the Eagles. Milan is under the control of the Germans. It is necessary to start taking action, starting with the rescue of a Jewish child, Gabriele, whose escape is organized with the help of Don Giovanni inside the hospital in Milan. After September 8, 1943, together with Don Giovanni Barbareschi and other Milanese parish priests, they gave life to the OSCAR (Organization Scout Placement Assistance Researchers) which engaged in a work of rescue of persecuted Jews and wanted people , with expatriation to Switzerland through the woods and mountains that no one knew better than them. Their service ended by protecting the life, after the war, of the persecutors of yesterday, saving Nazi hierarchs along those same paths who were handed over to the Swiss authorities to have a fair trial. It is their story that is told. A story of courage, fear, fidelity and rebellion. Because you can change the world.

What we once were, you are now.

Whoever forgets us, forgets himself!
