Eight year-old Tarsilinha journeys to an imaginary world filled with fantastic creatures, where she must get back the memories that were taken away from her mother, with the help of many magical Brazilian characters inspired by legends and stories passed down by the country’s indigenous population, early African inhabitants and Portuguese ancestors. Inspired by the works of Brazilian painter Tarsila do Amaral, the best known painter of the country’s “Modernist” movement that’s celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.
