Director Statement

The COVID-19 pandemic was still at a fever pitch when the #CapitolRiots occurred. There was a strict curfew enforced by the Mayor of DC, a heavy threat of more attacks and civil unrest in the city...but nothing was going to stop me from filming this documentary and making the voices of the people at ground-zero heard and their genuine emotions felt. With this project I aim to inspire, evoke strong emotions and spark social commentary on crucial topics that can help push forward the culture in a positive direction. Remember that it is we the people that can help navigate society through turbulent times..

On January 6th 2021 a riot and violent attack against the United States Congress occurred at the U.S. Capitol building. The entire Capitol complex as well as the historic grounds of the Lincoln memorial and Washington monument was locked down while rioters occupied and vandalized the building for several hours. Five people died and more than 140 were injured.

Before the dust had settled and with strict city wide curfews still enforced throughout the city, a small team of investigative reporters led by a visionary filmmaker took to the streets engaging the community and speaking with individuals present at the time of the riots to get their take on what happened, what impact Jan 6th will have on the country and what should come next.
