Garret Ryan and Kate Aungier are freelance model makers who combine a passion for detail with an understanding of sculpture, architecture and mechanics. They are interviewed by two IFI Work Experience students, Fiona Delaney and Lucy Brennan, to talk about their work and getting into this side of the industry.


Garrett Ryan, Model Maker

Garrett has been a professional model maker since 2003, beginning his career in the architectural industry and moving on to film making in 2009. Since then Garrett has made props and models for all manner of film productions, creating everything from rubber weapons and spaceships to dead animals and body parts.


Kate Aungier, Model Maker

Kate is a Dublin based model maker. After graduating from IADT she went on to do a short spell in Architectural model making but now works primarily in the film and television industry. Kate has worked on productions such as Penny Dreadful, Into the Badlands, Foundation and most recently FATE- The Winx Saga Season 2.
