Show me the money! Women make up a fraction of ownership roles in media businesses. When you consider intersectionality, businesses owned by Black, Indigenous and women of colour in particular, the numbers are even more dismal. When women do launch their own enterprises, they are significantly less likely to receive seed-funding or third party investment, despite evidence that women-led businesses are in fact more profitable. Why is this the case? How do we break through the barriers to support more women founders? How can established women-owned businesses scale up? How would the media industry change with more women taking the reins? Hear from women who successfully staked their entrepreneurial claims in the media landscape: how they did it, challenges they faced along the way, and how the industry can invest in the economic success, innovation, and equality of women.
