This homage to a master of literary horror, Shirley Jackson, (“The Lottery”) shows a writer (Elisabeth Moss) finding inspiration for her next book after she and her philandering husband take in a young couple (Odessa Young and Logan Lerman.) At first the young couple detests the rocky household of the eccentric couple, but they eventually establish deep bonds with their counterparts - which will test the limits of their young love - and solve the mystery of the fictional protagonist’s disappearance and death. The ever-radiant Moss stars in this meandering tale that blurs the lines between truth and fiction.
