The soil grows healthy plants, the healthy plants grow healthy animals, healthy animals grow healthy people," says regenerative rancher, Greg, of Green Pastures Farm in Rucker, Mo. The future of the land, the animals, and the soil is a vital conversation that we need to keep having in the most thorough way possible. So the team at MarketPlace, headed out to Green Pastures Farm to immerse themselves in the world of Greg and Jan Judy, regenerative ranchers. Over the course of several days, we asked questions, we listened, and we observed, and we documented our time there through the camera and on the page, which we’re excited to be able to share with you. In the end, we left with a deeper category of knowledge regarding this aspect of the food industry, and we brought back with us genuine awe and respect for people like Greg and Jan. We also returned with a renewed sense of gratitude that we get to spend time focusing on food, animals, and health and wellness. “I switched to regenerative farming when the status quo wasn't working anymore. What I was doing was not sustainable. Why? Because the soil is dead; it can't hold any water. Any society in history that has destroyed their soil, has ceased to exist. We need to change. We need to care about the soil.” With this film, we hope to spread that sense of gratitude and awe for the land that sustains our health and wellness, and for the people like Greg and Jan Judy who work to regenerate it.
